Works well for 2012 Toyota 4Runner

Works as expected for 2012 Toyota 4Runner. This is my third install in two weeks. Last week I replaced two front door drives with the same brand. In the first attached photo, the new part is in bubble wrap and the original part is next to it. Dismantling the rear door panel is very similar to the process for the front doors, but removing the actuator was a bit more difficult. The window channel guide is attached with two screws, but even removing it didn't give much movement. There's another latch at the top of the door frame, but it doesn't look like it could be removed if the window got in the way. So I unscrewed the operator, rotated it 180 degrees around the track and lowered it into the bottom of the door frame, then pulled out the latch wires and removed the operator. Inserting the new drive was the reverse process: dropping it into the bottom of the frame, placing the mounting cables, and then rotating the drive into place. Make sure you put the bar back between the blue guide shown in the last photo. As with other installations, the most difficult part of the whole process was installing the door panel. This back door took twice as long to fit properly into the top of the frame and the green latch wire kept popping out so I taped it in the gutter. Even with the window down it was difficult. I finally managed to get the top groove installed properly by pressing it really hard, grabbing the groove and sliding it inch by inch over the edge of the door frame. All functions are tested after all screws are attached. A total of 3 actuators were replaced for a total of $185. The retail price would have been over $2,000. No, it's not the same part, but it works.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Newer model could have been chosen
