I'm a professional technician but not a snap-on snob so I'm always looking for good tools at reasonable prices. This set of hex sockets looked like they would fit all of my needs, so I pulled the trigger. The first surprise I encountered was the case in which the sockets are kept. It is metal and has a very good set of spring loaded latches. I wanted to put sockets in my tool box and throw them away, but that's not going to happen now. The hex heads themselves appear to be Chinese, but I expected that, so no big deal. To be honest the reason I bought this particular set was for the knurling which is very handy if you use it without the ratchet. The knurling is good but not outstanding, combined with cheap manufacturing, not very sharp but quite usable. The chrome finish feels thick and durable. My only real dislike is the black oxide coating on the hex shanks, but that usually means they aren't made of powdered metal like the cobalt stuff I've snapped up many times. Overall I like the set, especially for the $20 price tag. Long term use will reveal the truth and to be honest I haven't run anything with them yet. However, having worked in my hands for many years, I suspect they will be lost long before they break.
