Review on Henery Professional Japanese Protective Sheaths by Gloria Shaw

Terrible to cut, great to wear.

Scroll down to the Pros and Cons section for a quick overview. Firstly to be clear I don't own them but a good friend of mine has a pair and I use them all the time at his house and was there for unboxing and first use. As for travel, it works great, it's a complete set that he keeps in his travel case and occasionally brings home. Unfortunately, they fall apart in terms of quality. They were pretty sharp out of the box, but dulled to an unusable state after the first use. I have a set of Tojiro knives that stay razor sharp, as well as countless other knives for cooking and other uses. I sharpen knives for friends and family and occasionally sharpen rental kits so I know what I'm doing fairly well. I've tried sharpening and maintaining them for him, although I've used the Apex Edge Pro system and Spyderco sharpening stones, these knives are too soft to get a sharp edge let alone keep one. I do not recommend this set for those who care about the quality of the edge of knives. Pros - looks great - easy to wear Cons: - gets boring right away! - Doesn't hold sharpening at all.
