Review on KEF Q150 Bookshelf Speakers Black by Anferny Pineda

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much better than Q100.

First of all the box I received is partially open but I still decided to try it. I was looking for a bookshelf 6 months ago and after trying 6-7 bookshelves I decided on ELAC UB5. In my search, one of the speakers tested is the KEF Q100. After testing the Q100 for a week, I decided it wasn't for me. It was too bright and exhausting. Maybe the KEF sound signature just isn't for me. I saw the Q150 for sale last Black Friday and decided to give KEF another chance. Out of the box I can say that these Q150s are a notch above the Q100. I've only been dealing with this for a few hours, but I can tell you these are the speakers I was hoping for when I tried the old Q100. The ELAC UB5 sounds fuller because it has a 3-way design, but the Q150's highs are better than the ELAC. Low level comparable to UB5 (feet from wall). While I still find the KEF bright, it's not as bright as the Q100. ELAC UB5 is more versatile in the sense that it can play any genre of music and any sound. I know right away that the 150 is great for jazz, vocals and acoustic music, and I hate to say it, but it plays that type of music better than the UB5. I will split them up in a few more days and update my review in a few weeks.

Compared to Q Acoustics 3020i and Jamo S803s - Kef q150's are the clear winner
