Don't believe the marketing hype - there are better projectors

EDIT: After a few months and every time I enable HDR I get horrible artefacts. Disconnect and return to SDR and they're gone. I thought it might just be a content issue, but after testing games, Blu-ray and streaming content, and a few input devices and cables, it was clear something was wrong. Even with the latest Roku flash drive plugged directly into the projector, there are bad artifacts. Honestly I would like to return it. Pros: • You get reasonably crisp 4K images • It supports 3D • Low input lag for gaming at 1080p Cons: • Poor artifacts when HDR is enabled. Imagine trying to play a game or movie on your playstation. Eventually the projector goes to a black screen and starts searching for a signal again. This will happen several times. Then finally the screen appears and then HDR kicks in • It takes forever to find a signal • It takes a long time to load • Sometimes it doesn't find a signal at all. I have to turn everything on in the exact order for it to work, and even then it sometimes can't find my signal. • The black level is not very good. Basically the same as my Viewsonic, which is over 6 years old and still had the original lamp. • Noisy. Man this thing is so loud and it's not a constant fan speed so in quiet scenes all you hear is this constant ebb and flow. • It's on their website now. If you select it, the resolution will be reduced to 1080p. This is a known issue and they refuse to acknowledge or fix it. Input lag as measured by the community is double (50ms) what is stated on their website. • Colors are distorted when turning on the projector or switching resolutions; forces you to turn off the device, wait, and then turn it back on. • There is an issue where half of the screen looks normal but the colors on the other half are washed out. For context, I'm using: • Expensive/high-end RUIPRO 8K HDMI cable • Denon AVR-S960H 8K receiver • PS4 Pro / Roku Streaming Stick+ This looks like a rushed product that they've spent as much time marketing as they have on development to have. I'd like to speak to the engineers behind this thing to find out what went wrong. Meanwhile, Optoma doesn't care at all. They simply release new products while this one falls into oblivion without further updates or support.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs
