So I thought I'd save some money by buying unbranded filters, but in fact I wasted my money. Less than a month later I was cleaning the straw for my bottle and was about to take out the filter and the cap came off completely leaving the black part of the filter inside the straw. After aggressively banging on stainless steel, I finally managed to knock out the filter. It left a serious black residue and after looking at the rest of my bottle I noticed that there was also black residue in the silicone part of the straw you drink from. I went back to the Brita brand filters and had no black tar issues. So in less than a month it literally fell apart and I drank everything it was made of. Just buy branded filters, if you are using a filtered water bottle you obviously care about the water quality and these filters will not provide quality water.
