Great sound but short lived

-- Unfortunately, this boombox won't survive the school year. The speakers start to wheeze. I've used it on my iPod and phone and it seems to damage the speakers for more than just playing CDs or tapes. I don't even turn on music that loud in the studio to justify this kind of degradation. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll have to buy another boombox for next year. Despite the high sound quality, I will not buy this model again. it just doesn't last. I am a high school dance teacher and need a high performance boombox. I've tried many different brands over the years. After two Sonys didn't make it to November, I tried this Panasonic. The first one I bought lasted 3 years and the speakers hissed last May. I just ordered my second one and hope it lasts a long time. The speakers here have excellent sound quality. It plays cassettes (which none of my students have seen before) and also lets me connect my iPod and phone to it. It's sturdy but not too heavy and I can easily carry it around with me. When I say heavy use, I mean it. I use this 5-7 times a day, mostly with CDs but occasionally with iPods and cassettes and it's never given me a problem. I stop and start the music again. I also hook it up to a larger sound system for our gigs and it works great with the larger speakers and school amp. I hope the new one I just got lasts another 3 years. This is by far the best boombox I have ever bought. I'm glad I was able to find the same brand and radio and I hope Panasonic continues to make them.
