I buy different ice molds and it's best to use silicone because the ice comes out very easily. Smaller balls can be made from this mold. than many other brands. They're larger than a regular ice cube, but still small enough to use through a straw in a glass of iced tea. If you're looking for giant whiskey balls, you might want to skip this one. But normal everyday use is the perfect size. The only problem I have with this tray is that it moves. My other silicone bowl was small enough to squeeze in one hand and leave the other hand free to open the freezer and move things around. That makes 10 cubes, so it's longer, and if you hold it in the middle, the ends will sag just enough to spill some water. But if you only hold it by one end, you can lose everything. Maybe I'll find out, but so far I've spilled some water every time I've put it in the freezer. I'm not too concerned about that as my floors and the bottom of my freezer aren't pristine so I don't care if some water seeps in there (which really is a very small amount of water). But if it's driving you crazy, see if you can find a silicone shell with fewer cubes.
