Review on πŸ”’ BELL Catalyst U-Locks: Top-Notch Security for Bicycles by Predrag Hall

Lock at the best price

Not much to complain about, I have a catalytic lock 550. It has a slider core which isn't the most tamper resistant lock, but it's perfectly adequate and won't let most people in compared to a cheaper lock. The shackle isn't stiff or thick enough to handle large hand tools, but it's enough to beat discreet options, and for $20 you really don't get anything better until you get three times what you pay. Also comes with an extra wire loop to secure the front wheel which is a nice added deterrent for those running away with just one tire. Everything is covered with rubber so as not to scratch the bike. However, it's still fairly large, so the standard mounting position won't work under most frames if you already have a water bottle. You need to keep it somewhere else, e.g. B. in your pocket or on your steering wheel. The bracket is oval, so you can't rotate the included bike mount 90 degrees for more mounting options. You will also need a Phillips screwdriver to secure the lock, not a regular bike hex key.
