Crazy Battery Installation

The product is good IF you know how to put batteries. After removing the battery cover, you can see small icons showing the location of the batteries. They are WRONG* and indicate that all 4 AA batteries must be installed with the positive contacts facing the tip of the soldering iron. At first I couldn't even see the icons, so I tried what made sense to me. There are two ways, but only one of them will light the LED. The correct way to put the batteries in is the two that go in the TOP compartment on the side of the switch, both + side down so you can see the "negative" ends when you put them in. The other two will be pasted "negative" side down so you can see the + ends as you paste them. BUT what makes the initial battery installation so frustrating and time consuming is that the battery cover CANNOT be snapped into place without assistance. Tool to insert the batteries by sliding the cover back into place. This must be done for BOTH battery compartments. You can use a small screwdriver for this. The actual size needed is the same as taking everything apart, which I had to do to figure out the correct orientation of the battery. No combination of orientations, including the right ones, will allow the lid to snap into place. Once the batteries are installed correctly, the soldering iron works very well. I say "seems" because I only tried it once before writing this review. I rarely write reviews because they are only useful when there is a serious problem with a product. * The symbols indicate that the two compartments work in parallel, which is not possible because the metal clip touches two sets of batteries that are not connected to metal.

Pros
  • POWERFUL AND HIGH HEAT: Although this soldering iron is small, it can still heat up to 565Β°C (1050Β°F). This battery operated portable heat soldering iron is powered by 4 AA batteries (not included).
Cons
  • Long delivery time
