Not a 'real' blue lens, clear lens with a blue coating that may peel
This is a beautiful but not 'real' blue lens. It's a blue coated clear glass that began to peel and flake after being run through the dishwasher and temporarily placed in the fridge, allowing both hot and cold to work against the coating remaining on it. Even if you're not sure what type of glass it is, it may contain lead or other contaminants. So if you're looking for airtight food storage in a more sophisticated kitchen, this may not be the best choice. However, they make a beautiful countertop for the bathroom or even the kitchen when nothing is being stored in them, and require more than a light flush of the sink.
