Putting your foot on the ratchet is easy as it has a beveled cut that allows the ratchet ball to fall down. Once the houndstooth is in place, it is very difficult to take off as there is no angled cut-out to easily drop the locking ball through. You will need to have a hex wrench or machine screw handy to press down on the locking ball and remove the houndstooth pattern.
