I'm so in love with this parka, it's unnatural. Forget that I look a bit like Mrs. Claus (WHY did I order red?!) for which I only have myself to blame. You laugh but see how YOU like getting "Santa Baby" stuck in your head every time you want to loaf around in a fluffy knee-length parka. And I do want to do that, a lot.In college I was on the swim and water polo teams, and they gave us big swim parkas like this, and I've loved them ever since. I even tried to shimmy off with one of the team jackets at the end of my senior year (what? College is expensive! I was 45 before I paid off all my loans; it's a victimless crime!).A large, cozy swim parka has been an unfulfilled wish for my entire life. When it got here I threw it on while there was still paper clinging to it and plastic shreds on the shoulder. It has everything you want — warmth, fleecy lined goodness, and the kicker?It has so. So. So many pockets. It isn't all that apparent in the first model photo because the thing is quite large (and especially large on a typical model) but there are big pockets in the sides (exterior), another zipper pocket for things like keys and a wallet, and a REALLY big internal pocket that's good for cozying up your hands. I could live in this thing.It's still not quiiiite spring here in Seattle, but as the sun was coming up, I wrapped this voluminous parka around me and curled up on my patio papasan with a cup of coffee and life had new meaning. I cannot wait to swaddle myself in this after morning swims in Lake Washington, or after my dog knocks me off my paddleboard into the sound.I kind of question how waterproof the exterior will prove to be. It doesn't seem to have that hardcore waterproof finish; "water-repellant" seems more accurate, but I haven't tested that feature yet. Color is more true red (think poinsettia) than fiery or poppy red. I thought it seemed more orange in the listing, but nope.This coat is a wonder — just snatch one up like you know you want to.
