Review on 🌑️ Digital Candy Thermometer - Taylor 9839-15: Adjustable Head for Precise Temperature Measurement by Emily Morris

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It works, but with some limitations.

I wanted a digital replacement for my old glass candy/roasting thermometer. This works, but there are several problems. It's embarrassing. The clamp is thin and heavy at the top so it will move unless you are using a very tall pot. The plastic body gets very hot either from the boiling contents of the pot or from the heat radiated from the burner around the pot. Not a disaster yet, but I'm nervous. For accuracy, I've compared it to a traditional glass candy thermometer and a digital laser surface thermometer. All were within a few degrees of each other. One final note: while the description says it's good for frying, the actual instructions only mention use in making candy. I've never seen a candy thermometer that didn't say roast on the box or instructions. This worries me even more since I fry a lot more than I make candy.
