The disadvantage of this toy is that it is also a puzzle where every piece comes out. I myself found the loose piece difficult to tie/close/lace in my hand or on my lap and my 3 year old became frustrated very quickly. More time is spent holding the part than learning how to make a zip/zipper etc. As others have said, gluing it was a 30 second decision (I used a hot glue gun so it was ready to use almost immediately). Once the pieces were glued together, she could focus on each task. I found the button to be too tight, so I used scissors to cut the buttonhole slightly wider. Aside from tying the green cord into a bow, the zipper is the hardest part because the prongs stick. I searched unsuccessfully for one of those big plush dolls with buckles, strings and whatnot that I remember from my childhood, to no avail. Overall, this is a good educational toy among others.
