Very nice toy, I like it very much.

I'm a big fan of Melissa and Doug's woodwork. My kids love them, they are well made, colorfully designed and reasonably priced. The only problem I have with this product is the pieces coming off the board. They don't actually have to get off the board, they fit in different ways, so no puzzle skills are taught. I think we'll glue the pieces together to make ONE solid piece for the boys to play with. Very nice toy, I like it very much. First, the lanyard comes off completely, so keep an eye on…

Helpful for toddlers to practice skills, wish it was a jigsaw puzzle

Bought this because we have a latch. The other bar board really helped my little one learn the basic bar types. Now she's starting to make her own zippers and buttons so I thought I'd buy her this to practice with. She loves it, but every detail comes out of the base, turning it into a puzzle. This makes maneuvering more difficult because the button, button or zipper has less resistance to pulling. Part just comes out. I can either glue them to the board or just make a styrofoam block for it…

Melissa & Doug have done it again. Our 4 year old is "velcro, or ask mom and dad to do it". We wanted him to work on skills himself that would help him flip clothes more actively, etc. This bear is a puzzle and skill builder, so let's use him by saying he can put any puzzle piece together. once he has completed every skill in the piece. We pretend to keep time and he will work on skills with motivation to solve the puzzle quickly. Other dolls/dogs/etc. weren't that effective at getting him to…

A good toy to teach these basic skills.

The disadvantage of this toy is that it is also a puzzle where every piece comes out. I myself found the loose piece difficult to tie/close/lace in my hand or on my lap and my 3 year old became frustrated very quickly. More time is spent holding the part than learning how to make a zip/zipper etc. As others have said, gluing it was a 30 second decision (I used a hot glue gun so it was ready to use almost immediately). Once the pieces were glued together, she could focus on each task. I found…

This proves that children love the simplest of toys.

My daughter loves things that snap or connect together and has been doing so for just over 2 months (19 months now). When she was given this, her eyes lit up with excitement and the thought of the satisfaction of being able to click and click and lace and close for hours. I never thought it would be so much fun for kids but it goes back to the saying that they will play with the box the toy came in longer than the toy itself I guess. In any case, the toy is somewhat advanced. something else for
