We had two ceiling fans with regular cords for lights and fan speed. My older kids couldn't deadlift without vertical support, so when I saw them I thought we'd try them. Installation is reasonably well documented and fairly easy. One of the fans was shaped like a bracket, making the cavity too small for the receiver, so a minor modification was needed. Otherwise they have set themselves up very well. Functions are what we need and they work well. By default, the fan itself will beep when it receives a "command" from the remote, but this can be turned off fairly easily and is well documented. My children are very grateful that they can now easily turn on the fan. and turn off the light or turn the light back on in the morning. We installed them for 3-4 weeks so I can't comment on durability.
