Knives are ok for the price. Not all knives cut well. This knife is pretty sharp. One thing is wrong, they do NOT cut out directly. So if you hold a knife in your right hand and the object you want to cut in your left hand, the knife will tend to curve to the left toward your left hand as you cut. If your left hand is low on the cutting board and close to the blade, you may bite your fingers. This can be avoided by intentionally pointing the knife straight down as you make the reciprocating cutting motion. I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a left-handed knife, but there is. It's one. Looking at the blade, there are serrated edges on the right and left, the smooth side is very narrow. I've seen knives (like one from Tramontina) with a wider, smooth side bevel cut straight down (significant difference).
