Review on Nikon Coolpix B500 Digital Camera (Black): A Powerful Photography Companion by Kittisak Jeangpong ᠌

Overall good, but expected more.

In general, if I had known in advance, I would have bought another model, otherwise I was also led to rave reviews with five stars from incompetent buyers. I'll save some money - and I'll take a model from another manufacturer. I don't have much luck with Nikons. I can’t say for all models, but I don’t recommend taking this one. Has some pros Cheap, powerful zoom, universal AA batteries, replaceable with similar batteries. Quite easy to operate, for a novice layman - the most "that". Some cons: A lot of unnecessary bells and whistles that will never be needed, in the absence of really important options. The main drawback is the lack of manual focusing, only autofocus. Because of this, last year I missed a lot of good shots and could not photograph the comet, i. E. this device fundamentally does not want to see the night sky (poor pointing light sensitivity). There is no built-in viewfinder - only a screen on the back - this leads to overheating of the device and increased battery consumption. Unnecessary extra zoom button on the lens. The video button is located unsuccessfully - it constantly falls under the thumb and filming begins, which cannot be stopped immediately. In functionality, the self-timer fires no more than after 10 seconds (this is not enough) and takes only one frame. My previous "Canon" of a similar price category allowed you to set a delay of up to 20 seconds. and up to 5 frames in a row. And yet - a powerful digital zoom is useless, because. after a certain approximation, the picture turns out like a cartoon; apparently, the "brains" of this device can not process well enough. After a year of operation, the device began to fail - from time to time it produces completely dark frames (when viewing it, it shows that the shutter speed was something like 1: 8000 sec. Moreover, the settings at the moment the shutter button is pressed remain normal, as well as after the frame is taken. Apparently, it starts to give electronics failure).
