Within half a year the oil level went down with no visible oil leaks. Then, for the last two weeks, the engine started jerking sporadically when starting and while driving. After removing the original PCV valve, I shook it to see if it rattled. That's how it was, suggesting it still worked, according to some online DIY sources. Regardless, I installed a new valve and reconnected the original PCV valve hose. From the next drive, hesitant starts and acceleration marks were no longer present. As for the accelerated oil consumption, I'm far from knowing if the old valve was the cause.
