Review on 8-Panel Pet Playpen with Door by IRIS USA - 34-Inch Exercise Dog Pen by Tammy Kaiser

Great for rabbits

I purchased this pen a month ago for my adult pet rabbit (Standard Rex) who weighs 10.5 pounds (about the size of an average cat). I use all eight panels and it gives her that luxurious large railing she loves when I'm not home to watch her move around the house. The door provides an easy way to let them in and out of the pen. Except that I fill their dishes with water and food. Although it's almost as easy to pull out the bar connecting the panels with one hand and enter the paddock. My rabbit is 18 months old so it is past the rabbit's teenage years when excessive chewing occurs. As a young rabbit she was never a destructive rodent as I always provide her with pine cones, apple branches and other nice things to chew on. I share this because she never chewed on her previous wire cage or gnawed on the plastic grip panels. I'm pretty sure that a rabbit chewing in a spacious cage or pen will chew on that pen too. This pen is made of a hard plastic that I don't think a rabbit will chew easily, if at all, but it definitely can. However, my rabbit's nose doesn't go through vertical space. She can stick her nose just far enough for her finger to rub the tip of her nose. My rabbit has never bitten, but in rabbits that don't have a clean biting history, life-size carrots have been known to go through the gaps, so it's not safe for rabbits that bite to poke fingers. The gaps are small enough that anything outside the enclosure is out of my rabbit's reach. I highly recommend this cage for pet rabbits. I'll be adding more pics of my bunny to show how much her nose sticks out when I think about taking a picture of her. Remember that a happy bunny (with a suitable living room, not bored and healthy) is the single most important factor in making your bunny a great pet (not destructive, grumpy, clingy, etc.). PS My photo, which also shows my cat, is of a 3 week old baby rabbit who can walk around the paddock but prefers to talk to her mother inside the paddock. My cat grew up with rabbits and poses absolutely no danger to them.
