First impression, disappointment. But I bought a cheap controller. Waterproof? May be. I can see that the sealant is not sticking to the silicone wires. I don't understand how it can be waterproof. My suggestion: if you're using it where it can get wet, install the wires down and install drip loops on any wires that go up. Can't tell yet how well the controller works, only installed a day ago. When installing, I was surprised to find that the plus is common, and the switch appears in the minus. This caused me some trouble when replacing another controller in a small RV. Overall performance in the RV, including the solar panels, was negative overall. I had to reroute the solar wiring and not use load wires. Another surprise that doesn't make sense to me is the Dusk Till Dawn feature. It's a pity that you can't use the 12V supply in daylight! The instructions even state that the power can go out because your solar panels are lit at night. For real? Nobody charges their phone during the day, uses a computer, fan or other 12 volt device? It turns out that this "feature" cannot be disabled. The workaround is to not use load leads and connect directly to the battery. This of course removes the low battery protection for the controller. The LEDs are too bright and never go out. The controller needs to be covered as it will be quite annoying at night in our little camper. Our system is only used occasionally (camping) and our battery is small, 35Ah. Bright LEDs consume at least 10 mA. That's 7.2 Ah after a month of inactivity (0.01 A x 24 hours x 30 days = 7.2 Ah), which is a significant drain on the battery. There is no other way to turn it off other than turning off the controller. Hope the controller works better than my previous experiences. Addendum after a few months of use: The controller works perfectly. I don't use load cables, the load connects directly to the battery. I gave the rating an extra star. I still don't like bright LEDs and have never seen them actually work as the instructions say, but the voltmeter on my battery confirms the controller is working fine. I have a switch to disconnect the controller from the battery when not in use, so it doesn't draw power when not charging.
