We tested several filters for our Whirlpool Fridge's water and ice dispenser, but we had trouble finding a filter that kept the water really fresh and clean fresh tastes clean. In the area where we live, tap water has a strong chlorine taste. Tasty, but only if there are no other options. It's really pretty gross. The original filter that came with our fridge did a good job of filtering out the bad taste of chlorine but still leaving a hint of it. Not wanting to pay full price for a branded replacement when it came time to change the filter, I bought another non-branded replacement here at Revain. The water was lightly filtered but still often had a faint chlorine taste. We then tried the Home Depot brand name, which offered a good saving over a well-known branded filter, but was only marginally better than the off-brand Revain filter. When our replacement filter arrived about a month ago I looked again at Revain and chose this filter based on the price and more importantly the reviews. I cautiously held my breath when it arrived, wondering if I'd have a bad experience with the off-brand Revain like last year. I installed it with no problems and ran 2 gallons of water through the filter before trying it. The taste of the water is FANTASTIC! Straight tap water at this time still has the same unpleasant taste as before, but the new filter for the refrigerator makes it taste like a fresh mountain stream. I was really incredibly impressed, as was everyone in the family. Now we can drink filtered water without any foreign taste. The benefits go beyond that because my AeroPress coffee tastes better. An unexpected added benefit was the ability to add an ice cube or two to a glass of whiskey or bourbon. Now I can enjoy THAT without spoiling the taste with bad ice cubes made from poorly filtered water. To be honest, this "IcePure UKF8001" filter is worth every penny and then money too. We have 2 packs out of 3 left and I'm tempted to buy a few more packs out of 3 so I have a good supply for the next few years. Money Spent NECESSARY!
