, I eat a lot of big salads. That is my favourite food. This is my third salad bowl. First there was Copco β the best yet, but discontinued. Then OH. OXO has never dried herbs like Copco, and the OXO ram mechanism takes up a lot of space in the basket and leaves less room for vegetables. OXO's speed wasn't fast enough to really turn all the water around. It was good enough but not great. On the plus side, the extra greens lasted longer in the fridge than Copco's. He finally broke down. The two plastic parts of the plunger/cap came loose and the innards fell out and when I put it back together it was different. Anyway when I was looking for a new spinner I wanted a spinner because I think it dries best. Westmark was highly rated and the size seemed good to me so I bought it. This is where the 4 vs. 5 stars come into play. At the time of my purchase they had 3 options; one for $13.99 and two for $16.99. I bought the more expensive one, mistakenly thinking it was the non-slip feet model mentioned in the reviews. I ordered the green model that shows the legs in the picture on this website. I didn't get up. There is some product information included in a Westmark salad spinner shrink wrap. It showed the model with legs in red instead of green, even though the actual product it was packaged in had no legs and was green in color. For those who don't know, the non-slip aspect of the salad spinner is important so that if you let go of it after starting it, it won't fall off the counter and it's still spinning. This is a very useful feature. I wish mine had it. Since I asked a question about the difference between the $13.99 and $16.99 models, the seller changed the price and now they are all $16.99. I think it's a supplier/manufacturer issue. My guess is that models with legs don't do them anymore and just haven't altered the images. In any case, it is not that difficult to hold the bait to the stop. But that's why 4 and not 5 stars. The basket is only slightly smaller than the OXO, but has more capacity because it doesn't have a piston. It's also more brittle, but that shouldn't matter much. It is more compact and better storable than OXO. I like it. It spins very fast and ejects more water than OXO. I usually spin one way, then the other, then shift the greens, drain the water, and spin again. That works great. The holes in the basket are roughly the same size as the OXO, but more greens fit through the Westmark basket than the OXO. I think it depends on how well it works. For this reason I would not recommend breaking or trimming greens before spinning. Wash, unscrew and then break/cut for salad. Some small vegetables like arugula usually stay in the basket, but some of them pass. never mind I select them, add them to the mix to stir them up again. I've only had the Westmark for a week, but am very happy with it. The only complaint is that it slides across my counter and I have to be more patient and hold onto it.
