Review on David Clark Electronic Noise Cancelling Aviation by Louis Turley

This is an overview for airline pilots. I was looking for my personal headset for my current plane, a Boeing 777. I looked around and basically had 3 headsets on my list. Telex Airman 850, Sennheiser HMEC 26-2-1-BV-K-2 and this one is David Clark DC ProX. Telex was attractive because of its $450 price tag and the ability to use airplanes. as a power source. Several colleagues have bought Telex and I have tried it on several flights. ANR/comfort is a far cry from David Clarke, and the 'headset boom' pulls hair out when you take it off - and overall the quality doesn't come close to David Clarke - but you pay less too. Industrial fair. I then had a chance to try the Sennheisers and while they come close to the David Clark in comfort and ANR, their plastic design just feels wrong. Don't get me wrong - it's a great headset, but it's almost $100 more expensive than David Clark and not worth it in my humble personal opinion. So I bought the David Clark DC Pro X and am very happy with it. Have been using it for about two months now and mainly on long haul flights that are 12+ hours. Its fantastic comfort and premium feel. The ANR is fantastic and despite what other reviews have said, finding the perfect fit for your head is very easy. The battery life is really good. Haven't changed the original batteries yet, although I use Bluetooth a lot. At first I didn't care if it had Bluetooth or not, but after using it I have to say it's a fantastic option. It also cuts out everything you've ever listed when the broadcast goes through, and then adds it back in. really sweet! The sound quality is really good - it's much easier to understand what ATC is saying in Asia. In general, I can't say anything bad about this headset - it is of high quality, very light (made of magnesium). and conforms to TSO 139. You can get it for Airbus or Boeing plugs, but if like me you bought it with twin plugs, you can buy a wired converter from David Clarke in case you switch to Airbus which uses round plugs. Overall, I can highly recommend the David Clark DC PRO X.
