Mixed feelings best in rugs

Received rear floor mats for my 2016 CX-5 yesterday. It was an absolutely unprecedented unboxing. I can't comment on carpet durability or water resistance, which I consider to be the two most important qualities; However, I was less than impressed with the material they were made of and some aspects of their fit. The material looks and feels cheap and just isn't comfortable underfoot. Imagine a piece of cardboard covered in whatever stuff they use to refill and that's the aesthetic you get. Overall, the mats fit very well. It took me a while to install as the underside of the mat fits snugly enough against the car carpet that you can't just slide the mat in place; You have to line it up more or less straight. I think it's good. Oddly enough, while the mat doesn't move side-to-side much, it does bounce up and down a bit as you move away from the tighter corners at the edge of the mat. It might be the "pillow" I read about in other reviews. I personally would prefer the floor in my car to feel firm. The combination of up and down movement and an inexpensive matte texture gives the feeling of having a flattened cardboard box underfoot. Mats. My legroom is now determined by the depth of the mats as there is a vertical edge there. With no floor mats installed, there is at least an additional 6 to 8 inches to slide feet first under the front seats. I hope to have more unforgettable experiences when I get my front mats. At the moment I'm giving the mats three stars, indicating that they will prove to be durable and waterproof.
