Not stainless steel but generally a nice collar

This review is specific to the large lavender collar, not the leash provided which will be explained later. A little over a year later, this collar is still on our Vojja, although I am sad that we will eventually have to replace it. A husky mix, she weighs about 43 pounds and has a neck circumference of about 16.5 inches. Knowing that many Japanese dog accessories are a size smaller than American ones, I checked the size charts and her measurements and then ordered the larger one, even though she would be considered a medium sized dog in America. I believe this is a cultural difference as we have a lot more space to keep even larger breeds of dogs. Anyway, I really liked the bandana, but somehow managed to get a sting in his mouth. and chew when she is teething. The fact that the bandana was easy to take off or put back on was a huge plus for me and I loved how long it lasted! The leash was definitely meant for a dog under 40lbs (probably even over 30lbs) but considering the price I didn't mind and ended up giving it to my brother's Chihuahua. Voya is great for her breed and she could go along bypass her pull up until we got a harness that fit her weird ball reassurance to me. As she pulled the dog less and became more consistent and controllable we kept the leash on the collar and it was fantastic. My guess is that the hardware on the collar is either all stainless steel EXCEPT the D-ring, or they've all been reinforced with a protective coating, so I didn't give that five stars. Apparently corrosion has occurred between the metals of the hooklink and the D-ring, possibly wearing away a protective coating on the ring. It was only after walking with the collar on the first rainy day that I noticed that it was starting to rust. I was concerned that the rest of the hardware would do the same, but luckily that didn't happen. Overall, the collar is definitely durable, but since the D-ring isn't stainless steel, it's likely to wear down over time before rusting when your dog pulls. I would still buy it again but that would be for a dog that pulls a lot less than a husky to keep the D-ring going. The fabric is still beautiful and although it will wear down over time, it is easy to hand wash with careful attention to the hardware. If it weren't for the rusty D ring I would have left it on and I hope the manufacturer will use stainless steel for it in the future.
