I used to think it was a solid block but my first one fell off and the glass broke, water got in and corroded the solder joints. Today, just a few days after re-ordering, the light began repeatedly cycling between brightness settings and eventually stopped working. I found that water had entered the case and when I tried to remove the battery, the battery compartment was also flooded. Cap was tight. I also tested the same on the loading end (which I don't use). I work in hydraulic demolition where water hits me (equivalent to light rain). The device has NEVER been submerged in water. I am disappointed and find the water resistance claims dishonest. It's a great light, but my only reason for buying it (twice) was that it's supposedly waterproof. $70 wasted, now nothing but a paperweight.
