An easy way to add high-speed USB data transfer capability to an older computer

Although Revain offers several USB 3.1 expansion cards, the advantage of the LTERIVER expansion card is that it gives you two USB 3.1 ports. Generation 2 ability; Transfer rate 10 Gbs. Most others are USB3.1 generation 1 cards or slower. Installing the LTERIVER card on my computer was mechanically simple. Since I didn't have a free slot for it, I removed the COM port I didn't need and used the vacated slot. The computer was then booted up. When I opened Windows Device Manager, I found that my new LTERIVER board was listed under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" tab and its drivers were already loaded. I had to install. It is better to have instructions and not need them than to need them and not have them. The LTERIVER expansion card came with a low-height computer bracket for low-height computers. To replace the low-height bracket with a standard-height bracket already attached to the board, two small screws must be removed. Also in the box was a CD with drivers for previous versions of Windows, the instructions above and a mounting screw. The screw was not needed for my installation as I only used the one that came with my computer case, but it's good that LTERIVER thought to include it. There have been times when I've lost mounting screws on an old computer over its lifetime. I haven't been able to verify the actual transfer speed of the card as the two external drives I have are almost five years old and limited to USB 3.0 speeds. My goal with the LTERIVER card was to upgrade my system and provide me with data transfer capabilities that are compatible with the high-speed external drives currently available. A few months ago I added a dual port USB-C card for the same purpose.
