This is a wonderful technique! Using it with my 2013 Macbook Pro worked great. I was able to use the mini display port to display port cable to connect it to my macbook. The resolution is excellent - sharp and clear. While I like iMacs, I appreciate that this screen is matte rather than glossy. The stand is very stable and the height adjustment is a great feature. A bit pricey but worth it for the color calibration and the many ports included.
