My son is tall and thin, 11 years old and weighs over 80 pounds. I ordered him an XL as he wears his FOL boxer shorts in L and is growing. They are now much more comfortable at the waist - no tightness, no leaking, just perfect! but the length is the same as L, so I know it will grow in length too fast. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the different set color we received. The color scheme shown is another reason we ordered this set. My son loves light blue and light green but the color set we received is 3 light green, 1 striped green and navy - very disappointed.
