Review on ✋ KOTTO Helping Hands Soldering: Versatile Third Hand Soldering Tool with Non-Slip Steel Base for Precise PCB Holder, Jewelry Making, Crafts, and Workshop Help by Brock Chisholm

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You never have enough hands when soldering.

I bought this because my soldering work has become more demanding. Rather than just replacing the battery, I install and remove resistors, LEDs, etc. on circuit boards. This Helping Hands base was very helpful. The base is heavy enough to hold an AM/FM radio design board (maybe 10x5 on a PCB) at almost any angle with just two handles. I installed it within 5 minutes after opening the box, there are 4 hands, 6 claws and six holes to put your hands in. The holes are in each corner and then two in the middle of the long side of the base. When I took it out of the box there was some sort of hot glue on the base but it came off fairly easily. Almost immediately after the fitting, I was able to fix the chain for my mother. The levers are flexible enough to handle such fine detail work. I would caution people against using rubber claws when holding a heated component. Lids are not heat resistant and can melt. The claws can also get hot when holding a heated component. However, those two limitations aside, I would definitely recommend this product. Materials aren't as premium as QuadHands (the big brand product this is based on), but if you can live with a slightly rougher base and all arms are the same length, you can't beat the price.
