If I knew what the glue from the tape would be.

If I had known duct tape would ruin my hardwood floors that I was trying to protect during our party I would never have bought it. How can I take it off? I tried Goo Gone, alcohol. I'm considering taking legal action because of glue stuck to my new hardwood floors.
