I was so excited but I think they were too good to be true - All instructions followed - Very cheaply made - Product information unclear. For example, there is no explanation of the included battery, whether two additional batteries are needed, or how the +/- batteries should be arranged. While it's not rocket science as they didn't work it would be helpful to have decent troubleshooting instructions - right out of the box they worked ONCE while I was still on the spindle and I was able to go through and see all the modes . They seemed pretty weak, but it could have been worse. After being unwound and left in the sun to charge for half a day, they didn't work at all. Inside is a faded green "AA rechargeable battery" and there are two additional battery compartments on each side. Even after using my two new AA batteries and trying different positions, the light didn't work. Sometimes they flicker for a second when you press the power button if you hold it down the whole time, but sometimes they don't even do that. - When trying to remove my new, unexpired batteries, this product caused one of them to warp. Since some people don't seem to have any issues and others have had similar experiences, I conclude that many people have issues but don't bother to write reviews or return an item because it is such a cheap item. Alternatively there are defective ones and others that are fine and it depends on the luck of the draw. As a side note, they were difficult to unwind and place. A tiny wire is twisted and tied in a knot.
