Poor thumb rest, but it has its uses

Just keep it for this purpose - an emergency safety net. Thumb immobilization is poor for this - the one-sided splint is too short and there is only a Velcro strap to secure the thumb with insufficient hook area. use for adjustment. I used glue hook material from the hardware store to enhance it and provide a better grip. I've found a use for it though - I wear it when I'm typing on the keyboard. The fixation of my original clip is so tight that I had to loosen it while typing. The otherwise undesirable mobility of the thumb allows me to wear the orthosis while typing. Other minor drawbacks: The three-strap system is more complicated and less comfortable than the two-strap system on my original brace, and it's not as comfortable as mine. the original spacer, but not bad either - I definitely wouldn't call it uncomfortable.

Pros
  • Removable and pliable aluminum palm rest ensures proper fit and support
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
