When I first changed this filter I followed the original instructions for my GE GXK285JBL sink filter water purification system. The flow has dropped significantly with the new filter. I contacted GE and they suggested another procedure. I was advised to hold the filter under running water for about ten minutes so that the filter is completely full, if less then there is a chance of air getting in. When I change the filter now, I not only hold it under running water for ten minutes, I also immerse the filter at an angle for a few minutes. The lengthy filling procedure seems to work, but I don't have to do that with my LG filters for my fridge. This filter can be placed dry, run for a few minutes and seems excellent at removing all air. The filter stage is equivalent between two filters.
