Review on Enhanced Performance of Medium Duty Aluminum Turntable with Single Row Bearings by Robert Wells

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product that easily adapts to home projects!

My wife has been asking me for a while to help her find a spice rack that would give her more space in her closet. Searching the internet, we couldn't find one that was perfect for our corner cabinet. I started brainstorming and researching a ring for Lazy Susan with the idea of adding a steel ring to the outer rotating aluminum ring. This would allow me to mount the assembly to the bottom of the cabinet and by adding flat disc magnets to the spice tops I had a neat spice rack solution! to cut the steel ring to the dimensions I specified, but otherwise I was able to use the inner ring (already using a flat head countersunk) to mount it to the surface of the case and then drill and cut other pilot holes (rubber feet removed), to screw the steel plate to the outer ring to get a rotating magnetic surface. Learned, I had to think a little more about the dimensions of the steel ring in terms of mounting and thickness. As can be seen in the photos, the inner diameter of the ring before assembly prevented me from pre-assembling, but a slight increase in the inner diameter and outer diameter would have improved the situation. I also had to think about adding shims between the body surface and the inner ring to give a good clearance (it's a bit heavy turning but not a big problem). If the steel ring were a bit thicker (I used 1/16" thickness) I could countersink the screws to ensure a flat surface everywhere (again, not a big deal, but would be nice).
