Review on Kidde KN-COPE-IC Hardwired AC Photoelectric Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Battery Backup by Phil Oliveira

Disappointed with reliability Kidde

Here is the story of our experience with Kidde smoke detectors: January 2014: We purchased and installed a fire alarm system consisting of 13 Kidde detectors:( 2 ) Kidde PI2010 : AC/DC Wired Smoke Detector, Photoelectric/Ionization Sensor(2) Kidde KN-COPE-IC: AC/DC Wired Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detector(1) Kidde RF-SM-ACDC: AC/DC Wired Smoke Detector 2014 Kidde RF- SM-DC Master Wireless Ionization Smoke Detector(4) Kidde RF-SM-DC: DC Wireless Ionization Smoke Detector Slave 2014 October: 1st error:(1) Kidde RF-SM-DC: DC Wireless Ionization Smoke Detector Slave July 2017: 2nd error: (1 ) ) Kidde RF-SM-DC: Guided DC wireless ionization smoke detector. December 2018: 3rd and 4th errors: (2) Kidde KN-COPE-IC: AC/DC photoelectric smoke/carbon monoxide detector. October 2014 to replace a previous failure. The failure mechanism was false positive every time. Since all of these blocks are triggered at the same time and there is no indication of which block triggered the error, the troubleshooting methodology is tedious. Tired of this. Obviously we are looking for punishment as we are ordering two more Kidde KN-COPE IC units today. I believe the next step will be to replace the entire system with another brand.

Pros
  • Low Battery Warning - A beep followed by a low battery warning. The red LED flashes. This pattern continues every minute for the first hour. After the first hour, the red LED flashes every minute, accompanied by an acoustic signal. The low battery warning only sounds once every 15 minutes. Silent voice prompt: Voice prompt 'Hush activated' and 'Hush cancelled'
Cons
  • Poor instruction
