About 10 years ago I installed my own central vacuum system using a Hoover garage vacuum and PVC pipe from a local hardware store. It has served its purpose for 10 years. My wife and I decided to upgrade to a more powerful system and this system was definitely an upgrade! It was very easy to install. And I bought a basic installation kit that was compatible with the unit and included adapters and wall plates. One of the best features is the on/off switch on the probe handle. One of the worst features is the fabric filter. I believe that a vacuum of this caliber should have a cartridge filter, a pleated paper filter. Unless you're mechanically inclined and have never installed anything like this, it's unfair to give it a bad rating based on your lack of skills and abilities! Not only is it the most powerful vacuum I've tried, it's also the quietest. The only sound heard on the first floor is air rushing into the intake manifold. Great power! Only time will tell if this cloth filter will stand up to the daily vacuuming we do around this house. $2,000 for a single story central vacuum installation. My total cost, including my own labor, is less than $700 for a one level ranch facility with the vacuum installed in the basement. Took me 6 to 8 hours including walking back and forth to the hardware store for small items like drill bits and Sawzall blades. I used a simple cleaning outlet to add a second outlet for vacuuming the basement. Someone gave the car a bad review due to the lack of a socket on the vacuum cleaner itself. If you're smarter than the vacuum itself, you shouldn't have a problem adding a second outlet. When my wife and I decided to add a second floor to our home, I have no doubt that this vacuum will work just as well. while doubling the square footage of the house!
