I hung it on the wall next to the door that was constantly being scratched by cats. I placed it high enough for them to stretch to their full length and then scratch a little. To get them to scratch, I hung a feather near the top of the scratching post. One of the cats jumped up and grabbed the scratching post at the top. I was afraid that she would jump off the wall because everything was on her. In other words, he wasn't scratching it, he was hanging on it with three paws and tapping the feather with his free paw. Therefore, his whole body was supported by a scratching post about 30 cm off the ground. To my great surprise, the scratching post held up! As for durability, I've only had it for a short time so I don't know how well it will hold up over time. A bit pricey but if it lasts it's worth it. I really like that it doesn't take up a lot of floor space like all the other scrapers I have.
