Review on πŸͺ‘ Winsome Wood Benjamin Seating, Natural: Stylish and Functional Home Furniture by Christy Jordan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy assembly, excellent quality, beautiful design.

I bought these 2 chairs along with a matching 42" round kitchen table, all from the guys at Winsome Wood. The table hasn't arrived yet. I decided not to buy 4 chairs for a number of reasons: Firstly, I wasn't sure whether the quality of the table or chairs justified buying 4 chairs. Second, I don't know if I can comfortably fit them all in my kitchen until I see a table that hasn't arrived yet. The chairs are all solid wood - no veneer or plywood. The back of the chairs is a graceful design with the legs integrated into the back. Makes chairs more durable. Glides are already plugged into the chair legs. There are several supporting side braces. A few assembly tips: The instructions are mostly illustrated, obviously trying to complete them with 'pictures' rather than 1000 words. Basically, they have achieved their goal. I have understood. Here's what I did to make it easier, which isn't shown in the pictures: each brass screw needs a split washer, then a flat washer. Then insert a long, medium, or short screw into the appropriate hole. If you put all the spring washers on their bolts and then the flat washers, the diagrams become a lot easier to understand. Then I sealed the holes and dowels. This is NOT required, however; I did it anyway. I also applied some glue to the corners where the front legs meet the seat of the chair. You don't need much. A thin layer on each "side" where they meet, or at the hole and end of the support dowel. I applied these thin coats of wood glue with cotton swabs. You can "instantly" tighten the 6 screws that attach the seat to the back legs and backrest of the chairs. Don't over tighten them - they are BRASS. That means they are soft. All you need first is a solid pull. When installing the other Front Leg Bolts, be sure to ONLY hand tighten them without a hex wrench and leave some wiggle room, literally, to "wiggle". You will need these to correctly insert the support dowels. I recommend that you insert the long end of the hex wrench into the bolts and hold the short ends. This will help you avoid over-tightening. And if you hear a wooden "SHOUT" at the end of a turn, or a bolt suddenly hardens, stop! Twist it maybe 1/4-1/2 more turns and you're done. When ALL the screws are tightened and the chair appears fully assembled, place the wrench on each screw again to ensure this. they are all"streams" tight. Finally, I taped one of the wrenches under the seat of one of the chairs with a piece of tape for later re-tightening - if ever needed. If the table is just as well designed and of the same quality then for the money you can't go wrong in my opinion. I got a table and 2 chairs from PRIME for $250 including all taxes and shipping. A perfect example of the superior quality of Revain Prime products.
