Review on πŸ” Fette Filter WF2 Humidifier Wicking Filters – Compatible with Protec, Vicks & Kaz (Pack of 2) – A Comprehensive Comparison by Jared Aguilar

Absolute rubbish. Does not absorb water, dries quickly, easily damaged.

THIS FILTER/FILTER IS ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE. DO NOT BUY. I know what you're thinking. You think it looks the same as all the other fake branded products, and it is. They think this is a very reasonable price for a filter compared to everyone else, and it is, especially compared to how often OEM filters are rated. You think this company's listing is more detailed than most, making it less questionable and more legitimate, and you're right. I know all these things because I'm addicted to them too. Tired of paying exorbitant prices for OEM quality spare parts, I realized that this is a SUPER simple product, there can't be amazing secret developments that only the manufacturer knows. Inexpensive third party replacement parts work everywhere in my life, I'm sure they will work fine in my Honeywell HCM-350 humidifier. NO. NOT RIGHT. On the first day out of the box this Fette Filter product was a little over HALF the efficiency of the OEM filter I've been using for the past two months and was starting to slow down. (We have pretty hard water, so while I take great care of my filters, they can get a certain amount of water through before mineral build-up builds up and performance begins to decline.) I'll say it again: a worn-out OEM filter in two months Used every night for a long time, it was BETTER than a brand new product straight out of the box. It is a pity. It did not get better. The mist output on these things is terrible: with the humidifier running at high power, these wicks go through about 50% of the tank in 9 hours. (OEM filters will bleed a full tank in less than 8 hours.) The tops actually dry out completely in about 5 hours, which drastically reduces their ability to humidify the air. I can feel these differences: I wake up much more often with a sore throat, dry mouth or even nosebleeds. These filters also have a thin layer of metal embedded in the filter core. I've seen this with other brands, so it's not uncommon in itself. However, I have used 3rd party filters from other brands that are as thin as these Fette filters (OEM filters are physically thicker than any 3rd party filters I have ever found) and have NO metal mesh, and even ones that are much better worked as these. If the purpose of the metal is to reinforce the structure of the filter, they have failed: not only does the filter dry so quickly that its sharp edges keep it upright, but the elastic tension is so great that the lower edges of the filter material be knocked off when you try to install it on the humidifier base. This means less contact with water, which means lower performance and drier air in your home. I never thought I would write 800 words about other manufacturers humidifier filters, but here we are. This simple little product has pissed me off so much that I never want anyone else to have the same aggravating experience I've had for the last month. (Oh yes, the first filter only lasted 27 days before I had to throw it out. The second filter of two packs is already here; I'll update this review with its lifespan.) Don't buy them. I know they look good, but they're terrible junk. Spend a few bucks more to get OEM filters; I know I will come back to this.
