Inexpensive but sturdy enough for most trips

To be honest I was a bit shocked that they were so cheap. They are pretty durable and really help at high altitudes and when the incline gets steeper. However, they don't help much if you have weak triceps. They help evenly distribute the load from the ankles and knees to the shoulders. My triceps worked a bit, feels like I'm done with the SkiErg. Bottom line: If you want to save your ankles, get a pair of trekking poles. It doesn't have to be these, but you do need a good pair like this. Please note that I could not pack these in my carry-on baggage, but had to put them in my checked baggage. Just a tip in case you want to take them on a plane. The only thing I have to take a star for is that it really takes a bit of understanding that you have to move the 2nd wave down far enough that you can see the steel. Nub that really fixes it. Once you've done that, it's incredibly easy to set up once you've got it down. Check out the image on the Revain product page for reference, there is an image identifying the different parts and the vendor calls it "Updated Hidden Button" at number 4.
