Review on High Traction Chrome Industries Kursk Sneakers by Shah Nelson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great looking, heavy and comfortable but NOT BIG

These shoes are similar in style to the Converse All-Stars (no closed toe) but also feature significant differences in construction, feel, and price. Chrome Industries is a fairly well established brand (with over 25 years of history) but these shoes were my first experience. All in all it was a good experience. I like that the look is quite aggressive and unique without being too loud, but more than that, I like their durability and comfort. Some things to keep in mind: 1. They are pretty heavy. The vulcanized rubber outsole is probably the source, but even the fabric (cordura, thick, canvas-like nylon, or nylon blend) is pretty durable. They are not outside the normal shoe weight range, but they are heavier and feel more like boots than sneakers for their weight.2. According to the product description, they run large. I'm glad I didn't get smaller. I usually wear a size 10.5 and these fit a 10.5 perfectly. Of course, when I buy shoes that only come in full sizes, I always go for a size 11, not a 10. I have a feeling they are pretty much true to size, so consider ignoring the advice in the product description and instead, instead of going down, buy your normal size.3. In terms of design, there are many nice little things. Olive green is unique and fun in a way, but still pretty muted. The eyelets and laces contrast with the fabric, but everything is green or black save for a small silver emblem on the back of the sole. There is no excessive branding, just a small label on the back.4. On the same subject as the weight mentioned in point 1, they seem to be more durable than any other similar running shoes I've had. The dark rubber outsole means scuffs are unlikely to ever show, and the fabric is thick and seems resistant to abrasion and stains. I'm not abusing them by any means, but they seem geared towards normal use and then some others. The only exception here are the laces, which are incredibly light. This doesn't necessarily mean they're short-lived, but it looks like they'll most likely need to be replaced at some point. $100 for sneakers isn't exactly a bargain price, but they're clearly of a higher quality standard. It's not just $100 for a fairly well-known brand name. From the subtle design to the quality of the materials, this is the best quality running shoe.
