Perfect size for my California King bed - I've finally found out that king size comforters (since they don't make Cal King comforters - Rare) fit Cal-King bed is best when laid on its side, it hangs a little more on the sides. There is very little to fill up at the end, but most of the time there is still not much left. I'd rather have those extra inches on the sides. I have tried many different blankets over the years and have come to the conclusion that cotton is the best material. Vellux (sp?), polyester or other artificial materials do not breathe at all, so the bed gets too hot within minutes. Cotton, with its looser weave, breathes well—enough warmth stays warm, enough air permeates to stay fresh and comfortable (and I have a ceiling fan right above my bed that blows constantly on medium). My only "cons" of cotton duvets is that they are difficult to wash in a top load machine as they break very easily no matter how hard you try to put on something else (cotton bathrobes work well). who sometimes sleeps - or plays a lot - on the bed and her claws tend to get caught in the looser weave of the cotton. Again, don't blame the ceiling. Mine lasted 8 years and it was actually used on another bed, I changed color so bought a new one. I am very happy with the quality, comfort and even the price of this duvet.
