Review on ASICS GT 2000 Lightning Black Men's Running Shoes by James Fisher

great workhorse

I've worn higher priced Asics like the Kinsei, Kayano and Nimbus so I was a bit reluctant to go with the 'mainstream' model. However, the price of $50 was too high to resist, including free shipping to Singapore! To be honest, I buy sneakers for two reasons. I run regularly, 3-4 times a week, but not long distances. 6-10 km each, easy pace. I'm 43, so I'm not trying to improve anymore. I'm just trying to stay healthy and fit enough to enjoy the years to come with my relatively young children. So the other regular use of my shoes is at the weekend, with jeans or Bermuda shorts, or on a casual Friday at work. So they also need to look good and be just as comfortable walking as they are running. Maybe my expectations were realistic, but I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the landing was. Hey, it's just as comfortable as the more expensive models! Have I been paying too much for "segmentation" all this time? It has a nice "glove toe" feel - snug but not too tight. The neon green is also very pretty. Not flashy or "obiang", but bright and catchy. When I first tried it, I initially felt that the "lateral cushioning" wasn't as stable as the Kayano (19, also bought from Revain for a great price of $87). !), but that's only the first minute or two of getting used to these shoes. After that, the running was pretty much what I've come to expect from Asics - you don't notice the shoes after a while, and that's the nicest compliment you can give a running shoe. Let your thoughts wander, concentrate on your form, enjoy the fresh morning air and the attitude towards life. Humans are by nature relative beings. Once we get used to something better or more expensive, we only notice the disadvantages of the "normal" product. I was amazed that this didn't happen with the Gt-2000. In fact, I reach for these shoes as often as I do my Kayano or Saucony Kinvaras (4). Surprisingly, it was the Kinsei (4) that disappointed the most, perhaps also because expectations were highest given the price. Twice (out of maybe 1-2 dozen times) after a 10k run with Kinsei, I felt pain in my legs that bordered on aching. Considering its positioning as top-level Asics, this was a huge disappointment. However, the design is very creative and I still use these shoes a lot for the daily walk. The final word on buying the latest model instead of the old one. My point is clear. Buy the old model! They're a lot cheaper, and unless you're Sebastian Coe you won't notice the 'technological advancement'! Most of these brands offer up to 40% off to clear out old stock, which is a lot for me. So why pay 60% more (or $30) for a GT 3000 when you can get a brand new GT 2000 for a lot less? And those shoes are still wearing out in less than a year when the GT 4000 comes out and your GT 3000 isn't the latest model anymore? This is one of the best arbitrages in the world until the shoemakers come to their senses and stop discounting the latest models on the latest models! In the meantime, pick up those big deals. And happy running!
