Review on Finish Powerball Dishwasher Detergent Tablets Household Supplies in Dishwashing by Sandra Egan

I bought two boxes when they were on sale, partly from -to consumer to review reports, but also thanks to the many positive reviews here. We've used Cascade Complete in the past and some rinse aids which we found worked brilliantly - sparkling clean dishes and very few stubborn products that the combination couldn't handle. I think I thought that maybe these pills could be somehow better, plus the idea of a pill seemed more convenient (I think). Our water heater is located just below the dishwasher in the basement, so hot water (measured at 125*F) gets there very, very soon after the valve is opened. Our city water is definitely harder, but not very hard. Almost every wash with these tablets, and we've probably tried more than 30 washes, produces a white viscous substance on at least 25% of the wash load, which is particularly noticeable on clear glasses and cutlery. These tabs are excellent at removing all leftovers and in this sense make the dishes "clean", even with stubborn dishes, but due to the whitish substance on them they are not completely clean and must be rinsed again. before use either by hand or by rolling the cube with a new tablet in the dishwasher. We tried every dishwasher setting, including the highest setting with steam, and the results were the same. I didn't see any tablet residue - they all seem to be dissolving - it's just a viscous white substance on the dishes that doesn't rinse off very well. The white matter is quite difficult to remove (not the kind that can be easily brushed off with a towel), although this may be due to the drying cycle "fixing" the white powder to the dishes.
