Review on GC Sketching Break Resistant Blendable GC CP 150 by Shantel Griffin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The price is too high for the quality.

ADVANTAGES: --> Pretty good packaging with handy ejection system. --> The pens look good and are well made. -> Many colors. which is good because of the first disadvantage listed below. --> Using it on high quality sketch paper gave satisfactory results. --> No unpleasant smell. CONS: --> Very high wax content compared to pigment, fills the tooth very quickly from any paper, so many layers are not easy to make. --> The test on the coloring book page was disappointing. To use them well the paper has to be really good paper with good teeth - in most coloring books the paper is almost smooth and these pens didn't work very well on this type of paper. I had to press very hard to get rich colors, blending/overlaying layers on the color paper was very poor. --> Many colors are so similar that they are functionally the same. --> Lightfastness ratings are unknown (like most other brands). CONCLUSION: This is fine for someone just starting to use colored pencils as an art medium, but ONLY when used on high-quality, single-tooth sketch paper. You can only use them in coloring books. unless you want super saturation or lots of layers. They just didn't work well on smooth drawing paper. I will remember to wait for others to post some reviews next time as they are definitely not worth the asking price. Drop the price by $10 or $15 and they're worth a look. At current prices there are much better sets than this one. I must have a review video on my YT Arts Crafts Stash channel by January 30th, 2021.
