Review on Boy Striped Pajamas Blu Ray Digital by Gabe Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A great film about a child, but not for children.

Set during World War II, a story is set through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of a concentration camp commandant, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has surprising and unexpected consequences. Consequences. This is a story that will break the heart of anyone who sees it. With few exceptions, all people should watch this film to better understand the horrors of hate. Children should not be exposed to this. It should only be seen by mature teenagers. The film opens with a quote "Childhood is measured by sounds, smells and sights until the dark hour of the mind grows." (John Betjeman) Therefore very young people should not see this film.

Pros
  • special movie
Cons
  • The film is not educational or informative about the Holocaust, allowing for creative freedom with historical accuracy.
