Check back later after more sun

Update: I tried several different spouts to achieve a small gurgle. Hummingbirds just want moving water, not necessarily a fountain spray. Besides, the slightest breeze causes the water level to go down, due to losing water from overspray. For some reason, I set the fountain back in the water while choosing the next sprayer attachment, and got the perfect result with no attachment! It barely gurgles, which is exactly what I wanted! It only runs in bright sunlight. It doesn’t store energy, so it needs a constant energy source to power it - sunlight. If you live in a shaded or cloudy area, this fountain is not for you.The fountain arrived yesterday, fairly quickly. It's pretty simple to figure out how to put together with the pictures provided. It was evening when I dropped it into my beautiful new birdbath, with no sunshine, so I had zero expectations of it producing a fountain of water immediately. This morning, it is in full sun, and is just burbling intermittently. Maybe it needs time to charge, and I hope that's all, but the directions show it going straight from the box and into a sunny birdbath, and the lovely fountain just begins to flow. Am I supposed to set it in the sun to charge with no water, or will that make the pump try to run while dry? Or will it only try to run if it is submerged in water? See attached video. I'll update later if the water begins to flow freely.

Pros
  • Cost-effective solution to powering water features
Cons
  • The fountain may require frequent replacement of parts due to cheap manufacturing
